Be The Best You

Every day in the world of voice over you’re going to come across a client looking for:

  • The aggression of Dennis Leary.
  • A Voice of God like Morgan Freeman.
  • The richness of James Earl Jones.
  • The guy-next-door style of John Krasinski.
  • The ruggedness of Sam Elliot.
  • The conversational delivery of Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon.

And the list goes on and on and on.

Uniqueness and Authenticity

In the midst of a sea of producers and clients looking for all of these celebrity deliveries it’s easy to forget or even lose your uniqueness.

What does Marc Scott sound like? I’ve asked myself that question before. You should too. “What does (your name here) sound like?”

I’ll tell you right now, you bring something to the table that Dennis Leary, Morgan Freeman and Sam Elliot don’t! Because they’re not you!

Your unique and authentic style is more valuable than your ability to imitate anyone else. ~ Dixie Gillaspie

Find your sound. Your style.

Be The Best You

uniqueI can’t even begin to tell you how many clients have sent me a link to an explainer video voiced by Mike O’Brian and said, “We want something like this guy.” Mike voices a lot of explainer videos. And he does a great job. A really great job. But I’m not Mike.

I’m Marc.

For the past couple years, the number of explainer video voice overs I’ve done has increased exponentially. Not by being Mike. By being Marc. By using my voice, my style, my uniqueness. I’ve voiced over 200 explainers this year alone!

Sure, you can book some voice over jobs doing celebrity impressions or trying to sound like someone else. But if you want to build a career, you’ll do it by being you.
